Kelly Blewett is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. She received her undergraduate
degree from Miami University of Ohio where she majored in Interdisciplinary Studies, a program that allowed her to take classes
in marketing and English, intern for Christian publishing house NavPress, and write a senior thesis about the way middle school
students make sense of the cover art on books for young adults.
After graduation, Kelly married Ken Blewett, a West Point graduate who currently
serves as a Captain in the United States Army. Hugely passionate about reading and publishing, Kelly spent the first year
of married life continuing to learn through internships at Philomel Books, a children’s imprint of Penguin based in
New York, and Louisville Magazine, a city magazine based near Fort Knox where Ken was stationed.
In the spring of 2006, Kelly and Ken moved to Colorado Springs when Ken was
transferred Fort Carson. Kelly took a position with the publicity team of WaterBrook Press, a division of Random House. While
there, she enjoyed working on campaigns like Jeffrey Overstreet's Auralia’s Colors, Valerie Burton’s
Why Not You, Chantel Hobb’s Never Say Diet and Marcy Heidish’s Soul and the City. The
couple also brought a third member into the family, a little Bichon Frise named Henry who was later featured in the novel
The Kidnapping of Kenzie Thorn by Liz Johnson.
In 2008, Kelly and Ken returned to Louisville, Kentucky when Ken transferred
back to Fort Knox after returning from a 15-month tour in Iraq. Kelly accepted a graduate teaching assistantship at the University
of Louisville and is now working towards her Master’s Degree in English. She continues to be connected to the Christian
book market through publicizing Christian books as the principal and publicist of KBK Public Relations. In her spare time
she enjoys running long distances slowly, going out to dinner, and reading The New York Times Book Review.
